Overview

uoguelph.courses is a student-run platform for University of Guelph course planning and related tools. If you use Google Calendar features, you authorize us to access and process the Google Calendar data required to provide those features to you.

Information We Collect

We collect information you choose to provide to us, information created when you use the service, and limited technical data required to operate the site.

• Account and contact information you submit through sign-up, login, or our contact form.
• Usage, device, and log data such as IP address, browser type, timestamps, and referring pages.
• Cookies or similar technologies used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and improve the site.
• If you connect Google Calendar, data made available through the permissions you grant, which may include calendar names, calendar IDs, event titles, descriptions, locations, start and end times, recurrence details, and related metadata needed to sync your schedule.
• OAuth connection data, such as access or refresh tokens, if needed to maintain your Google Calendar connection securely.

How We Use Information

• Provide, maintain, and improve uoguelph.courses and its planning tools.
• Create, display, export, and sync schedules you ask us to send to Google Calendar.
• Authenticate users, secure accounts, prevent abuse, and debug technical issues.
• Respond to support requests, feedback, and legal obligations.

Google Calendar API Data

If you choose to connect Google Calendar, we use Google Calendar API data only to provide calendar-related features you directly request. This includes creating, updating, deleting, or displaying calendar events tied to your course schedule.

We do not sell Google Calendar data. We do not use Google Calendar data for advertising. We do not use data obtained through Google Workspace APIs to develop, improve, or train generalized AI or machine learning models. Where applicable, our use of Google API data is intended to comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only in the limited situations below:

• With service providers that help us host, secure, authenticate, or operate the service.
• With Google when you choose to use Google Calendar integration.
• When required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users or the service.
• As part of a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.

Retention and Security

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect data, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your Choices

• You can stop using Google Calendar integration at any time.
• You can revoke Google access from your Google account permissions page at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
• You can request deletion of your account and associated data from your profile page or by contacting us.
• You can disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features may stop working properly.

Third-Party Services

Our service may rely on third-party providers such as hosting, analytics, authentication, database, and Google API services. Their handling of your information is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

Children's Privacy

uoguelph.courses does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date on this page. Continued use of the service after an update means the revised policy applies.
